Obituary for Betty Faye Goldstein Levy

October 15, 1927 - July 31, 2017
Austin, Texas | Age 89

It is with sadness that we mourn the loss Monday, just as Tisha b'Av began, of our cherished CAA Family Member, Betty Levy (a"h); beloved wife for almost 60 years of Irwin "Buddy" Levy (z"l); cherished mother of CAA Family Members Charles Levy and Karen Frost; honored grandmother of CAA Family Members David and Jessica Levy, Rebecca Levy, and Arielle Levy.

Betty (a"h) was a life-long southerner who grew up in Macon, Georgia, and who graduated from the University of Georgia. She lived much of her life in New Hyde Park, NY, and also Delray Beach, FL, before moving to Austin, about five years ago. She was active in her NY synagogue, serving as Sisterhood President -- and she lived for her family, was an accomplished cook and baker, and was a prolific knitter and crocheter. She loved dogs, children, and Costco hot dogs, and rarely missed a baseball game on TV, from opening day (the best day of the year), to the final World Series game (the saddest day of the year). Betty (a"h) lived a life filled with love. She was surrounded by family and she had few regrets. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, 2 August at 5:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 3125 North Lamar Blvd. Burial will be in Boynton Beach, Florida on Friday, 4 August at 10:45 am. The family will be sitting shiva in Austin beginning on Sunday evening (8/6) at 6:00 at 2613 Pembrook Trail, 78731 and continuing Monday-Wednesday evenings (8/7, 8/8, 8/9) at 6:00 in the daily evening minyan at Congregation Agudas Achim (7300 Hart Lane). Your presence in our daily prayer services is always praiseworthy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Betty's (a"h) loving memory to the 10,000 Faces of Torah Campaign at Congregation Agudas Achim --; The American Cancer Society --; Jewish National Fund --; or a charity or cause that touches your heart.

T'hi Nishmata Tz'rurah Bitzror haChaim.

May Betty's (a"h) soul be bound up in the bond of life. We wish much comfort and condolence to her family in this mournful time.
