Obituary

Barry C. Lewis passed away peacefully on October 1, 2018, just days after his 78th birthday. Barry was born on September 26, 1940, in Houston, Texas to Jerome and Claire Lewis. Barry attended Bellaire High School and the University of Houston. One of Barry's earliest accomplishments was achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. After college, Barry served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge in 1965. He attained the rank of First Lieutenant and received the Army Commemoration Medal for his time served.

In 1976, Barry and Romi married on August 21st and his daughter Michelle (Misha) was born in 1979. Barry was a devoted father and husband.

To say Barry had a successful career would be an understatement. Barry spent 25 years in commercial construction. After Barry rose to be an SVP at the Pinkerton and Laws Company, Barry enrolled in Atlanta Law School at the age of 48 and graduated receiving the honor of valedictorian of his class. He was a member of the Georgia Bar Association and had a small but successful law practice for over 10 years where he specialized in commercial construction.

In 2002, Barry and Romi relocated from Atlanta to Austin to enjoy their retirement. Barry was very involved in the Austin community in many ways. He was a volunteer with SCORE for 10 years, an officer with DANA, and was the President of the Austonian Condominium Association.

Being a Mason was a huge part of Barry's life. He carried the legacy of being a Mason from his father. He was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, as well as a Royal Arch York Rite Mason in Austin. He was also Past Master of the University Lodge in Austin as well as Past Master of the Sandy Springs Lodge in Atlanta.

Barry will be sadly missed by so many people including his wife of 42 years, Romi, his sister and brother-in-law Ellyse and Warren Zindler and their son Dean, his daughter and son-in-law Misha and Mark Rangel. His two young grandchildren, Lewis and Alex Rangel will always carry his legacy with them.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas
