Obituary

The incomparable spirit of our beloved mother and Grandmother Ardith Neila Bolich, Kiefer, Fidler Peacefully left this earth November 8, 2018 in Cedar Park, TX., She was 93.

Ardith, known to all as "Ardy "was born June 2nd, 1925, the youngest child of Edward G. Bolich and Florence Mygatt Bolich, in Ainsworth, Nebraska. After graduating high school at the age of 17 she moved from her farming community to the big city of Omaha, Nebraska. There she worked as a transcriptionist for the Union Pacific Railroad. It was in Omaha where Ardy met and married Byron D Kiefer on August 2nd, 1946. Together they had five children: Stuart, Stanley, Crista, Mark and Russell. In 1961 Ardy & Byron moved their family from California to Austin, TX where they set down roots and Austin became their home.

Ardy quickly became a valued community member, was active in St. Michaels Episcopal Church, her local Democratic precinct and an environmentalist. She brought public attention to local city leaders regarding the growing problem of 'Oak Wilt'. Her activism also helped obtain the protection of the 'Wild Basin Preserve' where she volunteered as a guide.

Besides family gatherings, the things Ardy enjoyed most involved nature and the great outdoors. Shae was an avid gardener of both vegetables & flowers. Camping, fishing, hiking, photography and bird watching were among her favorite activities. She also became an accomplished leaded glass artist.

Ardith is preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, her first husband Byron Kiefer, her eldest son Stuart Kiefer, her grandson Ian McCormack, & daughter-in-law Georgann Rodgers Kiefer. She is survived by her current husband Gene Fidler & his family, her brother Elvin "Brownie" Bolich & his family of Jerome Idaho, her children Stanley Kiefer, Crista Kiefer McCormack, Mark Kiefer & Russell Kiefer & wife Sharon. Ardy's grandchildren were her treasured jewels. They are Brandon Kiefer and wife Kimberly, Nicole Kiefer and partner Shanna, Jason Maloy and partner Christie, Alex McCormack and wife Stephanie and Mark McCormack along with 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a raucous group of friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday November 30th at 10AM at Weed Corley Fish funeral home in Leander.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or the Parkinson's research at the National Institute of Neurologic Disorders at www.ninds.org
