Dr. Albert Lobdell "Lob" Exline Jr., 94, loving husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and dearly loved friend passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 in Austin, Texas.

Lob was born February 5, 1924 in Dallas, Texas to Albert Lobdell and Emma Miller Exline. After graduating from Highland Park High in Dallas, Texas he attended Rice University in Houston, Texas, with a summer semester in 1944 at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, before he entered Tulane University Medical School. Upon graduation Lob did his residency in pediatrics in Boston then served with the Air Force as a pediatrician attaining the rank of Captain.

On November 15, 1947, he married Phyllis Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. This marked the beginning of a wonder filled 60-year journey together. Lob and Phyllis lived in Boston, Philadelphia, and Fort Worth before settling in Austin in 1952. They also spent a year in Ann Arbor, Michigan attending the University of Michigan and San Francisco, California attending the University of San Francisco as he became Board Certified in the practice of allergy. Together, with family and close friends, they traveled the world with a sense of fun and adventure.

Lob was active in the community as well as his work as a pediatrician and, later, as an allergist. He was very proud to have been Board certified in both the practice of pediatrics and the practice of allergy. He was fondly remembered by his patients as a caring physician. He also volunteered his time and support for many causes and charities in and around Austin, including the Seedling Foundation.

Lob was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lobdell and Emma Miller Exline, and his wife Phyllis. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Ann and Michael Barrow, his daughter and son-in-law Margaret (Meg) and David Brown, his grandchildren, Jennifer Shields and her husband Ben, Melinda Bonifay and her husband Mark, Richard and Sara Brown, and his great-grandchildren Chloe and Phyllis Shields.

A celebration of Lob's life will be held from 1 to 3 pm Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Westminster Manor.

Interment will be at Remembrance Gardens with a private family ceremony.
