Mrs. Mildred Wade Braxton
Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home North
3125 N Lamar Blvd.
Mrs. Mildred Wade Braxton, 87 years of age, was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on July 19, 1924. She went home to glory on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:25 p.m.
She was born to proud parents, the late Joseph and Angel Wade. Mildred had one son, Felton, who was the joy of her life. Felton went to his heavenly home on Mothers Day, 2011. I am sure that the two of them, along with parents Joseph and Angel, are busy getting reacquainted! I can only imagine her now, dancing with brand new legs.
Mildred enjoyed her ministry at New Covenant Fellowship and will long be remembered for her prayer requests each Sunday she was in attendance. [Others offered her pray request for her when she was unable to attend.]. She always prayed for Primrose [her home for 8 years], all pastors, all families, and for a cure for all diseases. She was an avid shopper and her favorite thing was to find treasures in the local thrift stores. She was also very generous in sharing her gifts with others.
She leaves behind a lifetime of memories to be cherished by her granddaughter, Annette Braxton Tobias, Kinner, LA; three sisters: Ida Welster of New Orleans, LA; Gladys Welster of Franklin, LA; and Judith Welster of Franklin, LA, and brothers: Chevelt and Edward Welster of Franklin, LA.
She also leaves behind a very special niece, Mrs. Carolyn Wade Vine, Atlanta, GA; one dear, true friend, Ms. Vi Lee, Manor, TX; 12 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Angel Wade; her son, Felton Braxton, Sr., her two brothers, Oscan and Leonard Wade, and two grandsons, Felton Braxton, Jr., and Glenn Braxton.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Genesis Presbyterian Church, 1507 Wilshire Blvd., funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
