Melba B. Serenil, age 63, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2012 after almost 4 years of fighting brain cancer. She was born on January 23, 1949 to Guadalupe and Jesusa Benavides in Karnes City, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Guadalupe Benavides.

Melba is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Rodriguez of Austin, son, Christopher Serenil of Austin, and daughter, Melissa (Bryn) Grimison of Boulder, CO; brothers, Reynaldo Benavides, Eddie (Sylvia) Benavides and Hector Benavides; sisters, Delia (Ronnie) Waldie and Maria Ferstle; grandchildren, Paul (Lee Anne) Rodriguez, Ashley Cervantez, and Kian Grimison. And last but not least her little dog Jaxx. She will be missed greatly by all that loved and knew her.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, TX 78705. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Couhig, CSC officiating.
