Jack M. Alexander, 78, of Smithville died at home on November 25 after a short battle with cancer.

Jack grew up in Edinburg and graduated from Edinburg High School. He moved to Austin, where he graduated from The University of Texas and met his wife, Sandra. He later received his master's degree from Texas A&M. Jack worked in city planning, regional planning, and economic development for the City of Austin, State of Texas, and federal government before retiring in 2000 and moving to Smithville.

Jack loved being outside and enjoyed moving to the country following his retirement. He also regularly attended UT volleyball and women's basketball, and enjoyed keeping up with UT and Dallas Cowboy football.

Jack is survived by his wife, Sandra Alexander; brother, Charles Alexander and wife Mary of Colleyville; sister-in-law, LuAnn Alexander of Edinburg; daughters, Tara Alexander of Kansas City, and Carrie Shepperd and husband Corey of Pflugerville; grandchildren Cara and Cody Shepperd of Pflugerville; cousin, Bob Kristek and wife Pat of McAllen, as well as nieces and a nephew, and his beloved dog Kaely.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to those who supported and cared for Jack during his illness.

Visitation will be 9-10am on Saturday, December 3rd with services from 10-11am at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 1pm at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Smithville.
