Tribute & Message From The Family

Basilio was born on April 15, 1945, the youngest of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferman and Manuela (Solis) Sandobal and his brother Ray Sandoval.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Pat (Perez) Sandobal, daughter Sandra Hermosa married to Rick, with children Krista, Alyssa, and Alex; and son John Sandobal married to Cassy, with children Austin, Arianna, and Aidan.

He graduated from Bertram High School in 1965 and went on to serve in The United States Army from August 1965 to August 1967. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He worked 34 years with the State Department of Human Resources until his retirement in November 1999.

Basilio had many interests: playing softball until his late 40s, gardening, and fishing to name a few. However, spending time with his family was the most important to him.

A man with a noble name, Basilio had much to share. He was a caring person and a great listener. He served in several ministries at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was a greeter and an usher and always looked forward to giving and receiving his "weekly quota of handshakes and hugs". He helped his fellow man by assisting with the Freezing Nights Ministry and the Bereavement Ministry.

He was known as Mr. B by children and adults alike after a young child started calling him Mr. B. The title he loved most was being called Abuelo by his grandchildren.

Public viewing is scheduled from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home (2620 South Congress Avenue) with a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm.

Pallbearers for Basilio will be his six nephews Michael Wooten, Robert Salinas, Ruben Salinas, Darrell Flores as well as godsons Ronnie McGinty and Koda Hardin. Godson Connell Gutierrez will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, March 26th at 10:00am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church (126 W. Oltorf St.). Burial will immediately follow at Assumption Cemetery. At the conclusion, the family invites all to join us for a lunch in the reception room at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.

Mary Pat, so sorry to hear about Basilio's passing. I just heard last week about all his suffering. He was so helpful to Al when he went through his ordeal. God Bless you and your family....
