Joseph Michael Fooshee III, 72, passed away March 5th, 2019 surrounded by his family. "Mike", as everyone knew him, was born on September 22nd, 1946 in Commerce, Texas to Joseph and Willie Mae Fooshee.

Mike was a member of the Graduating class of 1965 at Lanier High School in Austin and was an active participant of monthly class luncheons to this day. After Graduation from High School, Mike joined the United States Army and served his country proudly. After serving his country, Mike began working for IBM Corp in Austin, Texas, while at the same time he began to build time in his greatest passion; Aviation. Not long after, he left the security of a steady future with IBM to turn his hobby into his career. His Aviation career was quite legendary. He flew 2 Texas Governors and several other politicians, former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson, several businessmen and several celebrities including George Strait. After years of flying Corporate, Mike began his career at Southwest Airlines in June of 1988. Mike retired from Southwest Airlines as Captain at the age of 60 and began building his own private airstrip near the Austin area. Mike had made hundreds, if not thousands of friendships and relationships thru every chapter of his life and maintained them to this day.

Mike Is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Willie Mae Fooshee, sister, Lana Fooshee and sister, Sherry Fooshee. He is survived by brother, Steve Fooshee and wife, Jill, sister Carol Roberts, nephew, T.J. Roberts and wife Amanda, niece, Larissa Roberts, nephew, Graham Fooshee and wife, Jami, nephew, Tom Fooshee and wife, Lauren, great nephew, Taylor, and great nieces, Brooke, Lana and Daisy.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at Austin Baptist Church, 7016 Ribelin Ranch Dr. Austin, Texas, 78750 at 11am on Saturday, March 9th with a reception to follow afterwards. There will be a private burial at the cemetery at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Austin Baptist Church in Mike's name where Mike was a dedicated member.
