Tribute & Message From The Family

Delbert Leo McKenzie, 92 of Austin, gained his Angel wings with his daughter by his side on February 25th, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents James Arthur McKenzie and Emma Lenore (Cottle) McKenzie, his late wife Ellen (Pruett) McKenzie and son Randy McKenzie. Delbert loved life and his family. He is survived by his daughter, Sue Nordhausen; son, Debo McKenzie; grandchildren, Leslie Soto, Brandon and Jeannie Puckett, Shelby Puckett, Melissa McKenzie, Dusty McKenzie, Megan McKenzie, Sloan McKenzie and Brett Fluitt; numerous great- grandchildren, two great great -grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.

Delbert owned and operated McKenzie Refrigeration since 1956, and was a lifelong member of the HVAC (heating, ventilation and cooling) union. Prior to that he served in the US Navy during WWII. Upon returning home from the War, Delbert met and married the love of his life Ellen Pruett.

He was a member of the Old Timers Rodeo Cowboys Association (OTRCA) and loved roping up until he was in his 80's and going to the Rodeo with his children and grandchildren. When he wasn't working or going to rodeos you could either find him hunting, fishing, going to Blue Grass Festivals or on vacation with friends.

Come gather with us as we celebrate the full life he lived and cherished memories to share at his Memorial Service to be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Cowboy Church, 8355 Ranch Rd. 1869, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.

In lieu of flower, if you would like to make a donation in his name, please donate to the charity of your choice.

Delbert was very instrumental in making it easy for not only his two boy's Delbo and Randy but other kids that were not as lucky as his sons...Delbert made sure that his sons had good horse's and the other boy's were welcome to use them...If it wasn't for him there were other boy's that would never have had a chance to learn lots of things about how to take care of horse's.....cattle. We all had our duties and Delbert was hands on showing us all how and what to do to take care of all the animals. He will be missed very much by all the friends that he meet in all the years he preformed around the rodeo'
