Condolence & Memory Journal

To the family and friends, I didn't know Mr. Stott personally, but as we passed each other in the hallways at TxDOT, he was always very upbeat and positive. He will be missed. My condolences to all of you.

I am devastated to learn of John's passing. I haven't see you guys for quite a few years, but have always considered you both dear friends. I will say a Mi Shebeirach (Jewish prayer for healing) for you and your loved ones, Lee.

Dear Lee, I feel so very sad to know of John's death. My lasting memory of the two of you will be the image of you both in that huge, warm natural pool in Iceland. What great, good fortune I had to know John. I bless him on his eternal journey. Lee, I hope to see you at yoga as soon as you feel ready. I send much love to the both of you.

John was a special person to us, with his mischievous grin and the twinkle in his eye. He was a wonderful person and a pleasure to be with. He was always a gracious host in the comfortable and charming home in Half Penny Lane. We always enjoyed exploring the garden to see what was growing and the new developments over the years, eventually becoming an award winning home. We enjoyed sitting in the front yard, the back yard, all over the place taking it all in. We will always be thankful for those years in San Antonio, being able to share the Thanksgivings, the Easters and the occasional visits. We will miss you very much. Auf wiedersehen John Stott, ruhe in Frieden, und Gott huete deine Seele---

John was a wonderful addition to the family and he will be missed. We ask for God's blessing on our family and peace for Lee Hunt that John's memories carry into our lives and are a balm to the heart of us all.

I have several fond memories of John of you both looking very natty in bowties on the courtyard patio for a Center Gala, of a backyard barbecue at John Hart's, hosting in your lovely home, and out in Stonewall for a special Johnson family fourth of July picnic. Lee, I think of admiring your watch, and your demurring, laughing and saying, Anything cool I wear, I've borrowed from John. : ) These are the ways I'll remember him. Much love to your families.

I laughed hard with John often during our years at Marquette University. He was kind, funny, and smart; I am better for having known him. Rest in peace, my friend. May your perpetual light shine.

I had the honor of working with John at the Texas Department of Transportation. It wasn't long after I began working with John that I found out that he and I both had vintage Mercedes 300 diesels. We shared many stories of working on our cars and problem solving various mechanical issues that would come up at times. I will always treasure these moments. Thank you Lord for sharing John with us all and allowing us to be a part of his life here on earth.
