Condolence & Memory Journal

Millie was a "force." Her opinions were respected in every forum and she was an unconditional friend, accepting people for who they were and where they were. Her heart was more than generous and her contributions, more valued than gold. Millie left her imprint on many people and many parts of this community as well as a legacy her children -- and now Katie -- will carry on. We who knew her are the lucky ones. She was one of a kind and she will be missed more than words can express.

What a powerful, but thoughtful citizen of our city. Millie was great to meet and greet at Town and Gown, always inquisitive and bounding with enthusiasm to know and learn. Her fingerprints, placed without notoriety, were strongest on family, friends and this great community. What a lady. Nancy and Keith, heartfelt sympathy in this big change for your lives but it's so special she had time with Katie. Bless Millie forever.

Keith our sympathies to you and Nancy and family. Your mother was known and loved by many. Her passing reminded me of something we submitted to the University Area Rotary Club when proposing her for membership. I think it fits in well with her obituary. She was a wonderful woman.
To: University Area Rotary Club of Austin Board Members

General procedures have been followed since Jerry Galbraith and I discussed to sponsor Millie Douglas for membership. With my un-scheduled absences, that has been accomplished primarily via verbal communications. Jerry and David Tobey have assured me that the nomination is basically on track. Membership application is submitted with this correspondence. I hope this hasn't caused any problems.

Mildred Douglas whom many of you know
as new member to the club we propose,
After all of her credentials we show
We think none her membership will oppose.

I will begin with her classification
to explain it I know we have need,
She trades in the field of education
Adult Specialist the calling she heed.

With a B.A. & B.S. from Northwestern
and her Masters here at U.T.,
She continued her Post Graduate Intern
in the field of Counseling Psychology.

Yes Millie has all of the essentials
to be accepted in Rotary,
She's a person with honored credentials
and a good friend --- to Jerry and me.

I know you will all use good judgment
welcome Millie to Rotary's fold,
And to let her join in our commitment
the traditions of Rotary to uphold.
