Charles Dicky Travis, native Texan and lifetime outdoorsman joined his Savior on January 27, 2019 at the side of his best friend and loving wife of sixty-two years, Lydia. Dicky was born on September 23, 1936, the son of Lois and Hines Travis of Huntington, Texas. After attending Baylor University, marrying his high school sweetheart and graduating from the University of Texas. He faithfully and skillfully served the state of Texas throughout his thirty-five years of public service while mentoring and developing new talent. He embarked on his career at the Governor's Budget Office under Governor Price Daniel, remaining there for nineteen years through the terms of Governors John Connally, Preston Smith, and Dolph Briscoe. Dicky was appointed Executive Director of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in 1979, serving eleven years in that capacity. He continued to serve state employees as Executive Director of Employees Retirement System of Texas from September 1, 1990 until his retirement in 1995.

Dicky will be remembered for many aspects of his life. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and counselor. Friends say he was a warm, affectionate, loyal man of principal and integrity.

He is survived by his wife; his son Morris "Rick" Travis and his wife Renée of Pflugerville, daughter, Analisa Imboden of Round Rock; grandchildren John Travis of Hutto, Kaitlin and husband Patrick Williams of Kyle, Travis and Austin Imboden of Round Rock.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dicky's longtime friend and physician Dr. Richard Berry; Angel Flanagan and Opal Banks and the staff at Colonial Gardens for their care and understanding.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, February 4, 2019 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church. Burial will follow at Texas State Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riverbend Church at 4214 Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, the American Diabetes Association or Brookdale Hospice at 3636 Executive Center Dr. #21, Austin, Texas 78731.

As we read Dicky's obituary, we are reminded of how many lives he touched. Dicky wore many hats, each one with pride. We shared a 57 year friendship and will miss our dear friend.
