Brownie Stacy Brunson, age 88, passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughters on January 24, 2019 in Austin, Texas. Brownie was born Alpha Brown Stacy in Austin on March 14, 1930 in Travis Heights, a subdivision that her grandfather William Stacy had recently developed. She was the only child of Franklin Allison Stacy and Bernice White Stacy.

She attended Camp Mystic and the University of Texas, and was president of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was a duchess in the Tyler Rose Festival.

Brownie played an active part in Austin's cultural and civic growth. She worked tirelessly in the Symphony League of Austin, where she served in several positions, including Jewel Ball chair and decorations chair, and was instrumental in the development of Symphony Square. She was active in the Junior Austin Women's Club, the Helping Hand Home for Children, which her grandmother Clara Stacy had founded, the March of Dimes, the Laguna Gloria Museum and the Heritage Guild of Austin, which was responsible for saving the Driskill Hotel from demolition.

Brownie is survived by her daughters, Stacy Brunson and Cordelia Grosvenor, Cordie's husband Charles Grosvenor, and grandchildren James Miranda, Mark Miranda and Claire Grosvenor.

Friends and family are cordially invited to a funeral service in her honor, at noon, Friday, February 1, 2019 at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar in Austin, with a reception to follow. Interment will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Helping Hand Home for Children.
