Benjamin Langford Geeslin, age 61 passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018, on his father's birthday, at Mission Trails Baptist Hospital in San Antonio Texas, from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, (ALS), or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

He was born May 6, 1957 to Jeff and George Ann Geeslin. He was confirmed at, and was a member of, The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. He attended Texas State University and Austin Community College before joining the Navy.

Ben participated in two 150 mile bike rides from Houston to Austin to raise awareness and funds for Multiple Sclerosis. In 1991, Ben began his 15 year career with AT&T, where he met & married Ronette. He became a certified dog trainer in 2006, worked with rescue groups, and provided basic training to shelter dogs that all found forever homes.

Ben also trained service dogs, including a diabetic alert dog which became one of the first dogs allowed into a patients room at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

He is survived by his wife, Ronette; his mother, George Ann; one brother, David; and two nephews, Jefferson (and his wife Taylor) and Garrett. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeff.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar, Austin. Graveside services will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ALS at or an animal shelter of your choice.
