Tribute & Message From The Family

Raymond Montana Huerta, 83, our loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend was called to join our Heavenly Father on November 6, 2018. Born August 24, 1935 to Frank and Alice Huerta. Raymond the youngest of his large family, was born and raised in Austin, Texas and was happy to raise his family here as well.

Raymond was predeceased by two children, Raymond Huerta, and Alfred Huerta and two granddaughters, Alexandria McKown and Vanessa Huerta. He is survived by his children: Cynthia Huerta McKown, Linda Kraft, Monica Huerta Perez and Raymond Huerta, Jr. Grandchildren: Desiree' Galvan, Emojean Molinar, Alice Cortes, Jenni Batchelder, Michael Kraft, Raymond Huerta III, Jourdan Sarate, Brandon Huerta, Cyrae' Huerta, and Chazz Perez III. Great-Grandchildren: Phoenix McKown, Cash Galvan, Ava Galvan, Luna Cortes, Jaxon Galvan, Sunny Cortes and Elijah Molinar. As well as many nephews and nieces, and numerous friends.

Raymond loved his family deeply and at times, worked three jobs to meet the needs of his tribe. He was an entrepreneur and operated many businesses from band management to restaurants, to owning real estate, and retired as a Master Printer from Texas Department of Health. Raymond gave generously and enjoyed supporting San Jose Catholic Church and the Native American Children's Fund. Raymond felt strongly about decisions made in his community. He was an avid voter and encouraged his children to always use their voice and vote to maintain justice. He devoted numerous hours in support of electing Judge Bob Perkins and Senator Gonzalo Barrientos to office. Raymond also had a great sense of humor and often entertained his family and friends with his comedic storytelling!

The void he leaves is immeasurable, and the pain is great, but we know we will see him again.

Rosary will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 7:00 pm, Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue.

Mass on Wednesday, November 14, 10:00 am, San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Avenue, burial at Assumption Cemetery.
