Tribute & Message From The Family

Hat shopping with the Harringtons

Eloise Waldrop Price was born January 9, 1934 in Raleigh North Carolina to John Douglas Waldrop and Jenny Lind Penn Waldrop Hill. She passed away on April 19, 2014, after a prolonged illness.

Eloise married Joe L. Price, Jr. on November 5, 1955 at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh, North Carolina. After Joe earned his Master's degree from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, they moved to Port Arthur, Texas where Joe taught History at Thomas Jefferson High School. They moved to Austin in 1969 and lived in the same home until their respective deaths. Joe preceded Eloise in death on January 7, 2001.

Eloise had a few jobs she held outside the home, but her priority was being an amazing mother to her children. She attended Boy Scout and Girl Scout events, sporting and choir events, school plays and field trips, and she made countless cookies and cupcakes for various holidays and bake sales for her children's classrooms.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Westlake Hills, Brookdale Spicewood Springs, Brookdale Home Health, and Brookdale Hospice for their exceptional care. We would especially like to recognize our social worker, Joan; our CNA, Gloria; our nurses, Sue, Allison and Bridgette; our chaplain, Lucinda, and our music therapist, Jenny. Your loving support helped our family through a most difficult time. The family would also like to thank the caregivers who helped prior to Eloise entering hospice, Kathy Metzler and Tonya Price. Finally, we would like to thank the firefighters from Engine 20 for their multiple lift assists. Thank you so much for the job you do!

Eloise is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Price of Austin; son, Joe Price and his wife Diana of Georgetown; granddaughter, Gretchen Price of Austin, Texas; as well as her sister, Virginia Waldrop Powell of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of Eloise's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located on 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704. Attendees are encouraged to share stories and memories during the gathering.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that a donation be made to our local no kill shelter, Austin Pets Alive! https://www.austinpetsalive.org/

Condolence & Memory Journal

Getting to spend time with Mrs. Price was a blessing. We enjoyed some fun overnight adventures while Elizabeth was out of town, and some really profound talks over Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in the last few months. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family. Sending y'all my love and prayers.
