I have known sam, bertha, lynda and laurie for over 68 years (laurie for 66). The family is respected and loved within the austin business and Jewish communities. Sam will always be remembered with fondness. Sincerest condolences to the Shanblum family.

We remember Sam with fond memories and think back on all the happy times that we have spent together over the last 40 years. We wish you Bertha, Lynda and Laurie strength and courage . Wish we lived nearer so that we could be with you all at this time.

God Bless. All our love.
Joan, Chalky and family.

I had the pleasure of serving on the Travis County grand jury with Sam in 2003. Sam was our foreman. What a terrific people person and consensus builder he was. One of the opportunities we grand jurors had was taking a tour of the county jail. Sam and I and maybe only one or two others participated. As we walked up through the entrance, Sam turned to me as said abandon all hope, ye who enter. I was amazed because that quote from Dante was exactly what I was thinking as well. I can't help but smile at that that fond memory. I am very pleased to have known Sam. My deepest sympathies to the family. -- Charlie Carradine
