Tribute & Message From The Family

Beautiful daughter, cherished sister, world's best mommy, dedicated aunt, and faithful friend

Adrienne Peel, 54 years young- beautiful daughter, cherished sister, world's best mommy, dedicated aunt, and faithful friend -finished her final journey of this life on January 13, 2017 after a courageous nine month battle with cancer. Despite a devastating diagnosis, she never lost her strong will to face the challenges with courage, determination, and her feisty humor.

Born on November 25, 1962, Adrienne was a longtime resident of Austin. She graduated in 1981 from Grace King High School, Metairie, LA

She was a career State of Texas employee who worked for TRS for more than a decade where she was a loyal and much loved co-worker.

As Adrienne's daughter Sarah went through breast cancer three years ago, Adrienne was her greatest champion and supporter. She became a friend and mentor to others in her daughter's support group who loved Adrienne and benefitted from her wisdom and positive outlook.

Virtually everyone who knew Adrienne was touched by her generosity and loyalty. She gave her friendship and resources lavishly and always put others before herself. Adrienne loved others in her uniquely humorous, fun-loving, and intelligent way that truly made others know they were deeply valued by her.

She is survived by her daughter Sarah Geis, 26 years old, and their kitty George; her parents Patricia Rodgers and Robert Peel (Kathryn); her sisters Genevieve Peel Keefe (John), and Lucinda Peel DuTeau (Jeff); her nieces Jenna Keefe Springer (Jacob), Lauren Peel, Rebekah Keefe, and Hannah Jo Keefe; her nephews David Keefe and Stephen Keefe; a great-nephew Levi Springer; her aunt Marolyn Stubblefield; and her cousins Dr. Sam Stubblefield and Katharine Stubblefield Hughen.

Adrienne remained very close to her step-mother Karen Peel and her daughter Kristina Walton, as well as the cousins acquired by that marriage, Scott Medio, Brenda Wood, and Toni Kenady.

Thank you to everyone who poured out their love, support and encouragement the past nine months. The family is especially grateful to: Janet, Karen, Wendy and Eric, Brenda, Marissa, Jennifer, and Tina.

Special thanks to all the medical professionals who cared for Adrienne, especially Jane Chawla, MD and the infusion room staff at Texas Oncology Balcones, and the staff at Austin Hospice Christopher House.

In lieu of flowers Adrienne requested that donations be made to Give the Gift of Hope through the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Texas (, who lovingly supported both Sarah and Adrienne.

As Adrienne's final gift she has donated her body to UT Southwestern Medical Center, hoping medical research can find a cure for kidney cancer.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. As a coworker of Lucinda's I understand Adrienne was a strong person and well loved. Hold those memories of Adrienne close to your heart and know at least now she is in a good place and pain free.

I am saddened when a bright light suddenly goes out. But GOD's time isn't our time. "Age" as I use to call her, was a very friendly and welcoming person in all my years at TRS when I would see her early in the morning before most people got there. My heart goes out to her family, that they are lifted up and given what they need though GOD to get through this traumatizing time. You will be missed and remembered Adrienne...Thanks for the fun talks, the good humor, and always being a daily light no matter what you were going through........

Sarah, I am so sorry about your loss. You were a wonderful and very special daughter taking care of your mother the way you did during her illness. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Sarah, we are so sorry for your loss. Moms are special and when called home, even to be with the Lord, leave an emptiness that can never be replaced. However with time and the grace of God, which is overshadowing you and your family during this time, you will be able to think of your incredible mom and be comforted in knowing that she loved you with her heart and soul and knew you loved her as much! Even in her final minutes she knew you would be okay because you were surrounded by so many family, friends and loved ones to give you strength and lend support in your time of need. You are an inspiring young woman and our prayers and our hearts go out to you. May you continue to look to God for your every need and may your faith be an ever present comfort to you in the days to come. With much love, Gussie Rogers and Family

Sarah, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I am sure you know how proud your mother Adrienne was of you and your accomplishments and how much she loved you. Being a retired co-worker with your mother she spoke of you glowingly during our lunch hours at work and I am sure she will always be there to support you, even now. She will be missed by many and remembered with affection.

Adrienne was a very special person with a smile on her face most times. She was very helpful when working with travel challenges. Not in the loop as a retiree I didn't realize that she had this current health challenge and am so sorry for the suffering that accompanies it. I rejoice that she has entered the Church Triumphant and has no more pain or sorrow. As you miss her physical presence you will always have her present in the what she would have said, would have laughed at, etc. God's peace to the family.

Adrienne is a perfect example of how we should our life which is gratitude and courage! We will miss her tremendously but I can see her looking down on us with her beautiful smile and I think I can even hear her saying, "oh don't be sad, I'll see y'all later..."

of mine for 22 years. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I won't say, "Bye" just, "See you later".

My deepest sympathy to the family. I worked at TRS and Adrienne was always approachable and never failed to be helpful. She was a friend that is not easily replaced. Her donating her body to research is an example of her willingness to help others.

Posted by Selma Navarro - Austin, TX - Coworker   January 16, 2017

Adrienne and I were coworkers for many years. She was a bright spot in our otherwise mundane accounting office, and everyone loved her sense of humor and laugh. My thoughts are with her family and many friends.

Posted by Cynthia Provine - Austin, TX - Friend   January 16, 2017

When Katrina happened Adrienne just didn't say "that was terrble". She took on a family, adopted them and pulled them through. She became an angel on earth. That sort of empathy reminded me what the meaning of trust and brotherhood is. She loved uncondtionally and that is the greatest example. Adrienne's smile will be missed outwardly but is imprinted in my heart. Vaya con Dios, Adrienne Maria Rosriguez from TRS.
