"Rush was a fine gentleman and good friend! Played golf with him and watched him do all his great things for Onion Creek Club the entire time he was here at Onion Creek. We have been missing Rush for quite some time now and I am sure he will be missed by many other friends and family."

"Your mother and father were among the kindest and most genuine people I've ever known. I am so sorry that they're both gone now... but I see them in you, Rush and Tina, and in Rush IV, as well. Their best lives on in you."

"Rush was a great story teller featuring the Legends of Golf and the PGA players & entertainers of the day, broadcasting episodes and personalities, sports, and the LBJ family interests. He was an enjoyable guy to play golf with, and our Wednesday lunches at Cheddars for years were always captivating. Historically a good golfer, when one of his routine foursome buddies would surprisingly play a hole well, he would facetiously comment "You guy's are good...". We loved him and have missed him ever since he moved to Bryan, and will now miss him even more. What a true friend and honorable man. We'll see you at the 19th hole in the sky. Your buds George, Tony, and Greg."

"Rush III works with us at Texas Legal Services Center and we see every bit of that excellence and passion in Rush III, every day. Rush, Jr. left a great legacy that will live on among us. Rush Kirk Evans, Jr., rest in peace."

"Rush mentored me while he was GM at KCEN-TV, Temple. We shared the job of subbing for ill or vacationing sportscasters. Having the GM doing the sportscast--he loved that! He was a great guy whose door was always open to his employees. Caught up with Rush several times in Austin while I worked at the Texas Association of Broadcasters. He was a former president and always attended TAB's annual conventions."
