Gerald (Jerry) Keith Herschleb, 79, of Austin, Texas died on June 26 in Corpus Christi, following a fall. He was born on September 14, 1931 in Madison, Wisconsin to Henry & Ida (Ottum) Herschleb. He graduated from Central High School in Madison in 1949 and from the University of Wisconsin with a BBA in 1957. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Jerry was an active member of Luther Memorial Church in Madison from 1943 – 1984 and at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas since 1985. He worked for IBM in Madison, transferring to Austin in 1984. He was a loving husband, uncle and friend.
Jerry married his loving soul mate, Donna Lynch Schultz Herschleb, on December 27, 1975. He is also survived by his siblings John (Charlotte, NC), Donald (Escondido, CA), Shirley (James – Melbourne, FL), and Sharon Gruber (Madison), and several loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and many, many friends.
There will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Heidi Schwerdtfeger-Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shepherd of the Hills, 3525 Bee Cave Road, Austin, Texas 78746.
