Alicia and Anne: I was one of Miriam's sorority sisters, but she also taught my two sons at Crockett and was instrumental in helping them get into Plan II at UT Austin. My husband and I were out of state and so have just learned of her death. I wish I could have been at the visitation and the service. What a remarkable woman. She touched so many lives and I share your grief. May God hold the whole family in his loving hand during this time. Wanda Mills

Miriam was a dear friend. I am sorry I was out of town and missed honoring her life by attending the funeral. She was an inspiration to me with all her activities that supported things dear to her heart and mine. I will miss her and AAUW has lost a great member who contibuted so much to the mission of AAUW.

Dear Alicia and Anne,
I worked with your mother both locally and on the Texas AAUW State Board. She was one of my favorite people and we shared an interest in women's education especially. I will miss her willing spirit and wonderful smile.
We were unable to attend the reception today but I want to complement the two of you for the wonderful tribute you paid to your mother. I shall cherish her memory even more.

Miriam was a fine woman who possessed a feisty nature and a sharp mind. I was fortunate to know her and to see her love of education carried on by her granddaughters - my children Allyson and Kathryn, and my niece, Christine. She and Tor were a great couple and they are together now and for always.

My family could never have been luckier to have Mr. and Mrs. Tormollan as our neighbors across the street. They were two of the most wonderfully giving people in the world. They introduced my mother to many friends and got her involved in many organizations. And I will always be grateful to her for that. We will miss her so much.

Mrs. Tormollan was one of the best teachers at Crockett High School. I bemoan the fact that I was never able to be in one of her classes. I have many friends who will be deeply saddened by her passing. My condolences and prayers to her family, friends and students.
