Dear Janice and family,
You all are a very special part of our lives and so sorry for your loss. John was always so kind and thoughtful. We appreciate his faithful life to the Lord! May love and comfort from the Lord help you as you continue onward.
Much love always,

When I first moved to Dallas, Texas in 1980, I was young, and just had left home for the first time in my life. The Shockleys took me under their wing and helped me make the adjustment easier and eased my homesickness by inviting me over for many evenings and Sunday dinners, and included me with their family on many outings.
I am sad at Johns passing, yet joyous that he knows God and lived a generous and loving life.
Sincerely, Lisa

John was a friend to all and we'll miss his big happy smile!
Thinking of you, Janice, and you three girls so much. We're so glad for his (& Karen's) examples of right and truth.

John brought great joy, peace and happiness to my friend Janice filling her life with a genuine love shared in service to God. May He grant you the eternal rest you deserve. Please look down with favor upon those of us left behind and help us get through this difficult time without you. May we all remember the good times and love of life you exhibited always. You will be dearly missed....

Our thoughts have been with the family! John will truly be missed! Our 3 boys LOVED John and always were so excited when he sent donuts to them- which he did quite often! We hope your memories can help you get through this.

I had met Mr. Shockley a few times in the neighborhood. He would always stop and say "Hi" to me and my boys. I did not know him well, but I could tell from the start that he was a genuine and kind man. He was so excited when he bought his wife her engagement ring. He stopped by that day with the biggest smile on his face. And that is how I will remember him. So sorry for your loss. He will be missed!!!

John,
I will and do miss you greatly. You were always thinking about the other person, seldom about yourself. This is so unusual in our culture today. You ALWAYS asked about our dear daughter, Jessy, and shared the excitement of her growing up from ay one. You were always bringing her little gifts that she remembers and has enjoyed. She and I have talked about your passing and we have both had a good cry over the thought there will be

John, it was a pleasure living next to you for about 15 years. I always enjoyed our talks and really enjoyed serving on the Oaklands board with you for years. You were always anxious and proud to talk about your kids and grandkids. You will no doubt be missed. Thanks for being my friend. God bless.
